training and development

We want to train future leaders - not just lawyers. That is why we will deliver tailored training that identifies your skills and potential, and guides you to the right development opportunities.

Induction

It all begins with a two day National Induction, where you will be given an introduction to our firm and a chance to meet colleagues and fellow trainees from other locations. On joining your office of choice, you will continue with an induction that covers training on IT systems, the use of the intranet, working methods, library resources and office procedures.

Network

Early on, you will meet with your Location Training Partner, Supervisor, Mentor and Location Manager - all of whom are part of your wider support network. They will give you full briefings on your seat and generally help you settle in.

Leaders

We have created a training programme for people who have the potential to become future leaders. So in addition to all the legal training required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, you can look forward to:

  • structured training, including away days/courses
  • coaching groups
  • business training, including short internal placements in HR and Finance
  • job shadowing opportunities
  • structured work placements and secondments with top clients
  • the support and guidance of mentors
  • the opportunity to be involved in high profile work

Skills

We offer an in-house Professional Skills Course that covers all the modules required by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. You will need to complete and pass this course during your training programme.

IT

We are a progressive firm and make full use of technology and case management systems. Our trainees use an intranet-based system to keep a record of their training. You will receive regular training from our IT Training team and locally-based coaches.

Practical experience

Your experience and learning will be underpinned by working alongside nationally respected lawyers on commercial projects. In each seat you will join a close-knit team, with a personal supervisor who will set you tasks, check over your work and advise on your progress. Naturally, your responsibility and role will develop in line with your skills, so there is every incentive to learn.

The Beachcroft Academy

We have developed the Beachcroft Academy to ensure there is a co-ordinated and consistent approach to legal training right across our firm. This ultimately helps improve the quality of the services our lawyers deliver to clients.
