Not everyone is cut out to be a leader - and it is future
leaders we want. What makes you right for Beachcroft is a real
interest in our work, a respect for others, a passion for law and
business and ambition to be a leader in your chosen field.
We would like to know more about your experiences, skills and
education. The best place to share this information with us is on
your application form. Although we receive over 2000 applications
for our training programme and vacation placement scheme each year,
we read every single one. Demonstrate your potential in the
following areas and we will give you the opportunity to learn,
develop and succeed in your career with us.
Experience
We value the transferable skills, expertise and knowledge that
you will have gained through different experiences, so make sure
you tell us about all of your previous experience and not just
about the legal placements you have completed. We don't just take
on recent graduates either. People from many professions and
backgrounds train with us and we find their previous experience a
real asset. Roughly a third of our current trainees are classed as
career changers.
We accept applications from undergraduates and graduates with
non-law degrees as well as law degrees. Forty per cent of our
current trainees have a non-law degree.
Aptitude
Generally we will expect you to have achieved a 2:1 or higher at
degree level. We do consider applicants who don't have a 2.1
degree, but in this case you must make sure you draw attention to
any further education undertaken and also be able to demonstrate a
variety of experience and transferable skills. Either way, you will
need to be articulate, have intellectual rigour with a sharp mind
and the ability to tackle complex legal and business issues.
Teamwork
At Beachcroft teamwork is about working co-operatively with
others, being flexible, building relationships and inspiring
others. We look for people who can demonstrate the ability to
operate effectively in a team environment, show leadership amongst
their peers and encourage and support others.
Commercial and business acumen
The legal field is always changing. There are always new
statutes to apply, new issues to address and new ways of doing
business. So a naturally inquiring mind is a great asset. You will
need to relish the fact that you will never stop training, learning
or adapting.
Interpreting complex law and developing solutions to demanding
commercial briefs takes a great deal of processing power, coupled
with a creative, analytical and pragmatic approach. Along with
these qualities, common sense is invaluable when it comes to
developing workable legal solutions which deliver practical
business benefit for clients.
Credibility
We look for people who can act as a role model and ambassador
for the firm, those who can gain the respect of others and inspire
trust and admiration. We're looking for people who seek out
positions of responsibility and who have a desire to drive the firm
forward through personal and collective investment and
energy.
